Fortuna Best Western Robbed at Gunpoint

On December 30, 2012 at about 9:48 pm, Fortuna Police received a 9-1-1 call from an employee of the Best Western Hotel reporting that they were just robbed at gunpoint by an unknown assailant. Upon officer’s arrival, the employee reported a subject entered the business through the front door, brandished what was described as a black colored “sawed-off” style shotgun and demanded currency from the employee. After receiving the currency, the subject reportedly fled the area on foot and was last seen by witnesses running towards Alamar Way.


The employee described the suspect as being a white male adult who stands approximately 5’5”-5’8”, weighs 180-200lbs with blue eyes. He was described as wearing a large camouflage jacket, unknown color jeans and a black colored ski mask.
