PRESS RELEASE:On Friday, March 2nd, all are invited to don their most outrageous black and red attire and come out to the Mateel Community Center in Redway to celebrate the favorite local tradition of the Black & Red Ball. This year’s event will feature a triple bill with J Boog, Hot Rain, and Bayonics for a Polynesian & Latin reggae odyssey complete with Hawaiian food, drinks, and dancing.


Fresh off a European tour to support his latest album, Backyard Boogie, which topped the Billboard Reggae Music charts when it came out last fall, J Boog was a highlight of last summer’s Reggae On The River festival and this performance will be his highly anticipated Mateel debut. The event will also feature Hot Rain, one of the baddest up-and-coming Hawaiian bands with their signature dub/ R&B/ roots reggae, and Bayonics, a hot Latin/ funk/ hip hop/ reggae outfit from the Bay Area.


Tickets are on sale now at the usual local outlets and online at www.mateel.org for an advance price of $27. Tickets at the door will be $30 if available. 2012 Mateel members receive a $2 discount. Doors open at 7pm with a gourmet Hawaiian dinner and beer, wine, snacks, desserts, and refreshments will also be available.
