From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:

On 05-31-2012, approximately 1:30 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office Community Response Unit (C.R.U.) was notified by a citizen of a possible trespassing in the Mountain View Rd area , Kneeland. The citizen told the C.R.U. deputies there was possible marijuana cultivation in the area. Deputies responded and located several large greenhouse type structures and a motor home. The greenhouses contained growing marijuana plants. Deputies detained the two suspects identified as David Frazer Pickering, 26 years from Whitefish, Montana and John Mark Anderson, 26 years old from Eureka who were in the motor home, and obtained a search warrant for the motor home and greenhouses.

While conducting their investigation another suspect showed up, identified as Patrick Christopher Dempsey, 29 years old from Seattle, Washington. He too was detained. A search warrant was issued for the property by a Humboldt County Superior Court Judge, and the property and motor home were searched. The search revealed approximately 25 pounds of processed marijuana, over $5,000.00 cash and 1897 marijuana plants. Deputies also located approximately a half gram methamphetamine and Psilocybin Mushrooms in Pickering’s vehicle.

Dempsey and Anderson were arrested for possession for sale of marijuana, cultivation of marijuana and conspiracy to commit a felony. Pickering was arrested for possession for sale and cultivation of marijuana, and conspiracy to commit a felony, also possession of illicit drugs. They were transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Their bail was set at $75,000.00.

Deputies also located evidence at the scene indicating another residence may be involved. The Humboldt County Drug Task Force was notified and responded to the 3900 block of F Street , Eureka. They obtained another Humboldt County Superior Court Search Warrant for that residence. They located a sophisticated indoor marijuana grow at the residence which contained 199 growing marijuana plants approximately one foot tall. There were twenty-six, 600 watt grow lights set up in the home, however only approximately one fourth of the marijuana grow was being utilized at the time. Indications were the entire grow had been in use in the past. Matthew Bryan Long, 26 years, of Eureka was located at that residence and was arrested for cultivation and possession for sale of marijuana, maintaining a drug house, and conspiracy to commit a felony. His bail was set at $50,000.00.

The Humboldt County Building Department was notified and responded, along with Pacific Gas and Electric. It was determined the electrical system was unsafe and the meter was removed.
