On 06-05-2012 at about 0840 hours the Humboldt County Drug Task Force and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a residence located in the 2400 block of Harbor View Drive, Humboldt Hill. Agents located a sophisticated indoor marijuana growing operation in the garage. Agent detained a subject who they identified as Stephen James Wilson age 70 at the residence.

Agents seized 130 growing marijuana plants that were about one foot in height each. Agents located one pound of processed marijuana in the residence. Agents seized 9 rifles and 2 handguns from the residence. One of the rifles was an assault rifle with a 30 round high capacity magazine. Agents seized $ 10,900 dollars in cash from the residence for possible asset forfeiture.

Agents noticed a possible fire hazard with electrical wiring associated with the indoor marijuana growing operation. Agents then contacted Humboldt County Building and Planning Department, who then responded to the residence. After Humboldt County Building and Planning Department inspected the electrical wiring they determined that it was a possible fire hazard. Humboldt County Building and Planning Department then contacted PG&E to have the electrical power shut off to the residence.

Wilson was arrested for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana, being armed in commission of a felony, possession of an assault rifle and possession of a high capacity magazine.

Wilson was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and his bail was set at $50,000 dollars.

This case is still under investigation by the Humboldt County Drug Task Force.
