Your Lost Coast Outpost and KHUM radio are getting together with our li’l buddies at KWPT-FM (The Point) to deliver the goddamnedest election coverage in the world. Here’s what we can expect.

7 p.m.: Assm. Jared Huffman — the universally acknowledged frontrunner in this season’s exciting Congressional race — will join Larry Trask on KHUM to talk about his campaign, the five additional months of campaigning he’s facing, and what he hopes to accomplish if he makes it to Capitol Hill. In addition, our roving street team— John Matthews, Jen Savage and Tag Wotherspoon, with an assist from reporters from the North Coast Journal — will be out and about at the local election parties, filing scene reports and bending candidates’ ears.

8 p.m.: Shortly after the polls close, the very first results will be reported on the Humboldt County Elections Department Web site and the California Secretary of State‘s. THIS IS A BIGGIE. In Humboldt County’s case, the first report will contain somewhere in the neighborhood of 12,000 absentee and vote-by-mail ballots. There’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 75,000 registered voters in the county; if we assume a very generous 50 percent turnout, about one-third of the total vote will be published at this time. Probably more.

9 p.m.-infinity: The results continue to trickle in. We’ll be talking to all the major Congressional candidates at their campaign festivities down in Marin. We carry live reports from the campaign parties for Rex Bohn, Cheryl Seidner, Annette De Modena, Clif Clendenen, Estelle Fennell and Mark Lovelace. (Karen Brooks, who is holding a private function, will talk to us by phone.) We’ll check in with the local Democratic and Republican headquarters, and we’ll hit up the local bars where campaign workers for various Congressional candidates are partying down.
