Shotgun Fired at Two Men Trying to Break into Fortuna Home

On September 21, 2012 at about 5:45 a.m., officers with the Fortuna Police Department responded to the 4100 block of Loop Road for a report of two subjects trying to force entry into a residence through the front door. While responding, officers received information that a firearm had been discharged.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the victims who reported that two male subjects had approached the residence and began trying to force entry into the residence through the front door. While the subjects were trying to get through the secured door, one of the victims obtained a shotgun and then fired at the subjects through nearby window.

The two subjects then fled and entered a Newer Model Blue Mini-Van with a partial California License Plate of “6TL”.

This investigation is ongoing and the department is asking that anyone with information, contact the departments Anonymous Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a case reward if their information leads to an arrest and conviction.
