Briceland Volunteer Fire Department responded to an incident this afternoon in the Twin Creeks area which is west of Briceland. On SoHum Awareness, Mikal Jakubal described the still active situation, “The fire is in a big, deep trash pile that we couldn’t put out without heavy equipment to break up the pile.”

The fire sent toxic smoke across the area. In fact, the Briceland Fire Department warned, “Be aware that just before dusk, smoke was dangerously thick in the China Creek area, with the smoke plume moving eastward in the valley toward Briceland.”

Cal Fire has been called in to deal with the burning trash and the smoke and Air Quality Control has been notified.
