This is not what you want to see at 1 a.m.

The accompanying images come to us courtesy Missing Link Records co-owner and frequent Soul Night DJ Matt Jackson who encountered an unfortunate roadblock on his journey back from Comic-Con this morning. A sizable tree tumbled down a hill adjacent Highway 101 taking out power lines and blocking the road somewhere between Laytonville and Garberville.

DJ Matt had this to say:

We stayed and signaled traffic until a volunteer firefighter who seemed to live nearby set out some road flares. We left the scene at 1 a.m. and drove back to Laytonville. Didn’t see any response vehicles the whole way so I guess they’re coming from the north. Cell reception is nil out there so everyone is probably stuck. When we left, the line going north was about 15 cars and a couple semi trucks deep on our end. Less going southbound.

LoCO‘s CHP Watch confirms that vehicles are unable to get around the blockage. While the human parts of LoCO may slumber, the CHP Watch will keep an eye on things. If you’re wondering when you can get through, watch here. Be safe, travelers.
