Patient care and fire suppression was accomplished by Hoopa Ambulance, Orleans Volunteer Fire Department and the Six Rivers National Forest.

At 6:10 pm, a vegetation fire was reported in the sand dunes to the west of the Arcata Airport. Fire apparatus from Arcata Fire and CAL FIRE responded to the incident. At 8:49 in the evening, a residential structure fire spread to the vegetation in the Kings Range Southwest of Petrolia. The fire destroyed a cabin and burned approximately one quarter acre. Two engines from Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department and two engines from CAL FIRE worked together to contain and extinguish the fire in about five hours. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be from an ember from the cabins wood stove that landed on and ignited the roof. High winds fanned the flames that rapidly consumed the cabin.
