Officers with the Eureka Police Department this morning responded to the 2500 block of Fairfield Street for a call about a domestic dispute. A male reportedly brandished a firearm and then fled the residence, according to EPD spokesperson Brittany Powell.

Soon thereafter, officers located the man in a vehicle and performed a high-risk traffic stop in a driveway near the corner of Burrill Street and Prospect Avenue. Officers held the man at gunpoint, according to scanner traffic.

The Head Start preschool on South Ave. in Eureka noticed the police presence and briefly went on voluntary lockdown, Powell said. An EPD sergeant headed to the school, and that lockdown has since been lifted.
