Remember when Brad Pitt came to Humboldt to lay around and look pensive amongst the Sequoias? What if I told you the location manager for that photo shoot won an award at some swanky Beverly Hills party? Would you be pressed to come up with the English words to relay to a stranger what a photo shoot location manager exactly does? Would you, like LoCO, be awed by the fact that such an award and event existed?

Well, here’s a press release from the Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission requiring you to accept that this is the reality we exist in:

Film Liaisons in California Statewide (FLICS) held their 21st California On Locations Award (COLA) show this weekend at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. Location Manager, Brenda Ferrell won Location Manager of the Year: Print Advertising for the Brad Pitt Details Magazine still shoot that took place in Humboldt County last summer.

The region’s film commissioner, Cassandra Hesseltine attended the show and said, “It was very sweet of Brenda to give me a shout out during her acceptance speech. I am thrilled she won for all her hard work!”

Local CHP officers Alex Bryant and Garth Gundersen were finalists in the category of State Public Employees of the Year for their service on the still shoot as well.
