Officers from around the region are convening on Salyer this morning for an active shooter apparently holed up in a house on Fountain Ranch Road, just on the other side of the river from Highway 299.

The Redding Record-Searchlight and KRCR-TV, out of Redding, report that the subject in the case is a suspect in a home invasion robbery.

Earlier this morning, scanner traffic indicated that SWAT teams were en route to the location. A reader headed east on 299 this morning tells us:

I’m heading over to Weaverville today and I’ve noticed more than 10 law enforcement including County Federal and two armored Humvees going westbound on 299 on the west side of Trinity County.

and then

I just saw two more SWAT vehicles that are armored heading westbound out of Weaverville something big is going down.

Selena Zorrilla-Mendoza of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office told the Outpost this morning that local deputies have been sent to assist in the situation, which is just over the line in Trinity County. A call to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has not yet been returned.

We’ll update when we know more.
