Here are just a few of the things voters in California may or may not do on November 8:

  • Legalize weed
  • End the death penalty
  • Ban plastic carry-out bags
  • Put us on record as opposing Citizens United
  • Require the use of condoms in pornographic films
  • Issue $9 billion in school bonds
  • Raise taxes on cigarettes by $2 per pack
  • Extend an additional income tax on people earning more than a quarter million a year
  • Elect Donald Trump president

Fun, right? It’s a little bit dead on the local level, though there are some fun ballot measures and one possibly competitive race for Eureka City Council. But even if you don’t care about any of that, look at the hot list above! Legal weed, ending the death penalty … those are some big, weighty questions with some pretty easy yes/no answers. Chances are you already have an opinion.

So why have you not registered to vote??? (If you haven’t, that is.) You’ve put it off this long. Now the deadline is upon you — tonight at midnight. Register (or reregister) now, or forever hold your peace.

Good news? It is now insanely easy to register to vote. You can do it right now, online, over at the Secretary of State’s office. You get that link? Here it is again

Here it is one more time:
