Dorina Lee Johansen-Canfield, age 46, went to be with the lord on Monday, September 12, 2016 in McKinleyville. She was born on September 12, 1970 to Robert and Linda (Dudal) Canfield and was the youngest of four children.

Dorina was born and raised in Humboldt County along with her brother and two sisters who were more than just sisters – they were best friends and they were never apart seeing or talking to each other daily and doing almost everything together.

She loved helping others, whether by volunteering at the food bank, giving someone a ride or a place to stay, or just being there when someone needed her. You could always count on her to be there and ready to help anyway she could.

Dorina was the true definition of a one-of-a-kind person. She was loud, full of life and never afraid to speak her mind. One of her favorite sayings was “Can’t let the grass grow under my feet,” and boy did she live by it. She was always on the go and always smiling.

Dorina has always had a love for horses, from random rides around town with her sisters to teaching her grandkids, nieces and nephews how to ride. She also loved being outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, barbecueing, or just playing with her grandchildren. She has always been very family-oriented, always making sure to get everyone together often to catch up or just have some laughs and make new memories.

She is survived by her father, Robert Canfield; husband, Robert Johansen; sons Christopher (Savanah) Brooke, Riley Canfield, Brandon (Shawnee) Buchholz; daughters Ashley (Steve) Coliyn, Emily Retz; sisters Tammie (James) Harris and Tracy Sloan; brother Robbie Canfield; nieces Vanessa (Shane) Hailey, Hayden Souza, Tiffany (Allan) Hannah, Bryson Beugler, Mandi Sloan, Nevayeh Lewis, Kelsey (Andrew) Harris; nephews Jeremy (Valerie) Tianna, Ella, Cade Canfield, Steven (Nicole) Landen Harris, Nathan Sloan, cousin Brandee Jones; and several more cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Dorina made many great friends throughout her life and is survived by those friends that she considered family, including her life-long friend Sheri Batemen.

She is welcomed into heaven by her mother Linda Waterman; stepfather Loren Waterman; grandpa Bud Dudal; brother in-law Roger Sloan; her son’s father Jade Buchholz; her daughter’s father Kenny Morgan; and life-long friend Danielle Uber.

Her passing was unexpected and her time on earth too short. Everyone who knew her will miss her greatly.

A Memorial Service and potluck will be held at the Redwood Christian Center (Humboldt Hill) on October 15 at 1 p.m. with friends and family honoring her life. A Gofundme account has been set up to help her family with funeral costs.
