Dee-Faye Florence Moon
January 8, 1984-Feburary 17, 2017

28& Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

—Matthew 11:28-30

Dee-Faye Florence Moon — “The Pistol” — entered into the Kingdom of God on February 17, 2017. She was a beloved mother of four beautiful children. Dee-Faye was a member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe — she lived several places in her life but Hoopa was her home forever. She enjoyed life to the fullest — she was always joking and laughing, and she had a quick wit and a blunt personality. She was a no-nonsense type of woman.

Being part of a large family, Dee-Faye knew how to establish her pecking order amongst her siblings, so her father gave her the nickname “The Pistol.” Even though she was only 5’ 2”, nobody messed with “Deebo.” Dee-Faye was a survivor — she could get in a tight spot in life and bounce up all on her own. Another nickname she was known by was “Honey Girl” while her lil’ bro was “Honey Boy,” nicknames given to them by their mom. She will be dearly missed by all.

Dee-Faye is survived by her four loving children: Anjelica Correa, Issac Moon-Davis, Antonio Correa and Santiago Moon; her father, Richard D. Moon and companion Tamela Ammon; mother-in-law Margarita Correa and family; siblings Richard B. Moon, Meagen (Raymond “Guy” Baldy), Darrell (Blanche Moon), Jasmine Moon and Travis Moon (Chernabyl Nidoy), and Jessica (Jeff Miller); her grandparents Fred and Carmen Moon; aunts and uncles Marjorie Moon-Anthony, Delores Moon-Norton, Ronalda (Danny Jordan), Lila Moon-Lucero and Susie McLaughlin; nieces Dianna Moon, Emily Baldy, lil’ Carmen Moon and Darrell Moon Jr., Priscilla “Dolly” Moon; nephews Raymond Moon Atterbury, Robert, Raymond and Riley Baldy, Jayceon Moon, Kayrich and Kayceon Moon, and Nas-Chawen Moon; cousins Carmeli (Nolan Begay), Leland Jordan, Medero Moon, Annalisa (Rashauna Cavil), Liles Cavil, Nena Carlson, Shaleen Carlson, Damon (Heather Cross), Aaron Cross, Virgil McLaughlin and Christina Moon. She also had many, many cousins whom she loved and adored very much.

Dee-Faye Florence Moon is preceded in death by her beloved husband Antonio Correa, mother Diane Thornton, uncles Fred Moon and Lil’ Clyde Moon, and cousins Bishop Rivas and Billy Dee Moon.

Dee-Faye’s wake will be Friday, February 24, 2017 at 6 p.m. at Hoopa Assembly of God. Services will be Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Hoopa Assembly of God. Burial to follow at Moon Family Cemetery on Pine Creek Road. Reception will be at Legion Hall directly after services.
