Lois Louise was born November 17, 1928 in Rockport, CA to Roy E. and Lois Wilkinson Davis. She died January 12, 2017 in Taneytown, Md. with her husband by her side.

Louise was raised in the Larabee Valley/Bridgeville area, graduating from Fortuna High in 1946. She taught school first in Sunnyside, Wash. and then as a civilian teacher with the Air Force taught in Japan, Iceland, Newfoundland and Scotland. Following that time she returned to Humboldt County, where she taught at South Fortuna Elementary and then began a long tenure at the Alice Jewett School in Alderpoint. She married Ray Nis Mathison in 1970. After his death in 2000, she married George Kenneth Sutton in 2003 and moved to the East Coast.

She is survived by her husband, George Sutton, and his children, Nathan, Phillip, Sharon, Lyle and Kenneth; her brother, Glenn Davis (Myrna) of Alhambra, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Lois Bozarth (Wayne) Port Angeles, Wash., Alice Dearing, Dade City, Fla., Bob Morris (Lanie) Blocksburg, Tim Morris (Debbie) Malad City, Idaho, Tom Morris (Amalia) Hermiston, Ore., Ted Morris (Diana) Oroville, Calif., Brent Davis (Rosie) Seal Beach, Calif.; stepdaughters, Patty Nielson (Dean) and Charlote Peachey plus numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews . She is also survived by one special cousin, Veltha Coleman of Blocksburg, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary B. Morris, in November 2015.

A graveside service will be held at Sunrise Cemetery, 3315 Newburg Road, Fortuna on Friday, January 20th at 1 p.m. conducted by Pastor Rick Doty under the direction of Goble’s Fortuna Mortuary.
