Crews working on Highway 299 near Big French Creek Road have been battling this latest bout of weather while trying to reopen Humboldt’s main route east. The going is slow. Last night another large rock came a-tumblin’ down the mountain.
The Caltrans Quickmap states Highway 299 will be open tomorrow by 6 p.m., but weather will likely factor in to how accurate that prediction will be. (Caltrans officials recently told the Record Searchlight that the road likely wouldn’t open until February.)
