Jerry Floyd Howard (Bird Guy), born February 28, 1958 in Prince George County, Va., died September 21, 2017 from injuries incurred during an accidental fall. He is preceded in death by his brother Douglas Howard, and survived by his parents Carol Howard, Gerald and Nita Howard, his brothers Randy and Lisa Howard, David Howard, and Danny and Carol Howard, and many nieces and nephews, and two great-nieces.

Jerry was known to many as the “Bird Guy” for his love of exotic birds. He rescued and owned many beautiful birds that he showed in community events and at local schools and senior living facilities. He was passionate about caring for the many birds and teaching others about them.

He was a loving and generous son, brother, uncle, and friend. The family will be holding a celebration of life at First Covenant Church, 2526 J Street Eureka, California, on Saturday, September 30th at 2:00 PM.

Jerry’s many exotic birds were given to Miranda Rescue to find good homes. The family is asking that donations be provided to Miranda’s Rescue in Fortuna to help with caring for the birds in lieu of flowers.
