Gary Lee Robinson was brought into this world on May 31, 1982, and journeyed home on May 13, 2018.

Gary was born in Springfield, Oregon to his mother Marian Bowie and father Robert Ellis. He lived his first 10 years enjoying the nature and weather in Oregon before moving back to California in 1992. He then attended Loleta Elementary School, where he graduated from the 8th grade and then onto Fortuna High he went. Gary prospered in Fortuna High as a proud Husky! He was an all-star athlete in basketball and football, while receiving the best athlete award as a senior. He was a hardcore Raiders fan — as he would say, “Raiders Baby!”

He enjoyed going to football games, playing football and or just hanging out with his friends watching football Sunday. He loved the Chicago Bulls and most importantly Michael Jordan. Gary was a damn good basketball player and the best three-point shooter you ever saw. Gary loved to play games as well. He would enjoy relaxing at home playing Call of Duty and/or Madden. Gary was a well known poker player throughout Humboldt County, and boy was he good at it. A local poker God he was!

Of course Gary was also a ladies’ man and who can blame him — he was a handsome man. Through his life there were a few women that made an impact on him, from his high school sweetheart, Sarah, to his college girlfriend, Shauna, and of course the mother of his daughter, Teresa, whom he all loved dearly. And let’s not forget about his junior high love, Wendy.

His love for basketball is what brought him to meet the love of his life, Elizabeth Marquez. With her he was blessed with their son. Gary spent his last 12 years with Elizabeth and their two children. He enjoyed life to the fullest, from going to playoff games, to flying his children to Florida for Disneyworld. He loved his family beyond words, including his dogs and cats. He truly was the best father to his children. He never missed a ballet concert for his daughter or a sports game for his son. He would take the time to teach his children simple matters to the important things in life. Gary loved his family and had a huge heart, there wasn’t a soul that he did not touch in a special way. He is going to be missed by many and never forgotten by all.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Robert; his sister Jamie; nephew Zach; cousins Delilah, Crystal, Leslie, Bobby; aunties Janice, Norma and Andrea; uncles Kenny and Ike. Gary is survived by his life partner Elizabeth; his daughter Shaya and son Gary Jr.; his sisters Barbara, Valerie and Charlene; his brothers Billy and Roy and niece Tiffany; his best friends Eric and Jimmy; his close friend Nicole; his aunties Aileen, Brenda and Eloise (Judy); his cousins Brian Wells, John, Joe and Dakota McGinnis, Brian Calderon, Wanda Cranfill and many many more; his in-laws Gleezette, Joel, Alex, Joey, Bernadette, Jackie and Josh; his nieces Serena, Makayla, Sunshine, Keira, Grace, Treasure, Marissa, Natalie and Aubrey; nephews Amari, JJ, Shia, Billy Jr., Manny and Julian.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends on Gary’s birthday — Thursday, May 31st — at Bear River Casino Ballroom beginning at 5 p.m. If you would like additional information please contact Elizabeth at 707-296-4680.
