John Howard Jewett IV, the fourth of his name, last of his kind, last of the great American Cowboys, last of the Wild Wailakis, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, a legend to all that knew him, born July 19. 1958, has left this Earth. John passed peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep in the company of his dear lifelong friend on the evening of June 9.

Son of Lyman & Margaret Jewett, John is survived by his daughters Roni Jean Jewett-Line and her husband Eddie, and Hannah Maria Two-Moons Jewett; sisters Marsha Bushnell, Kathy Mathews and her husband Glen, and Margaret Robinson; his brother Lyman B. Jewett; grandchildren Connor Line and Bella May Line; and numerous nieces and nephews

He was a friend to all. He would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He never let anyone leave his house hungry or sad. He would make sure he left you smiling. He truly had a heart of gold.

Please join us Monday, June 17, for graveside services at the Jewett Family Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Also we’ll have a Memorial Service at The Redway Baptist Church from 1 to 5 p.m. as we share our stories and love of the legacy John has left behind. Also, as many of you know he had a sweet tooth, so please bring your favorite dessert to the memorial, where we will have lunch.

We love you more than hound dogs love chasing bear. Until we meet again, may the eagle watch over you and the bear give you strength.
