7:56 a.m.: On April 25th, 1992, my mother snapped this #film of me and my prized possession, these boots, from Daves Saddlery in #ferndale. We were late to the first annual Best of the West Fest and she was the official photographer. I distinctly remember her saying " something's up. It's too still", as I adjusted my hat. After this day I spent the next 6 months sleeping on the floor in my parents room, on Grizzly Bluff Road, after experiencing one of the most terrifying experiences in my life. A 7.2, 6.5 and a 6.2 earthquake all within 24 hours. There is no way to properly describe watching glass explode like water from the Abraxis jewelry store front, or to watch buildings move in ripples down the street. The ominous silence afterward, followed with screams of panic. I can't remember if mom developed the pictures of destruction in our darkroom upstairs, but this gem made it through the historical #humboldtcounty quakes. Too bad those boots didn't stick around as a souvenir as well. #tbt
