It’s Gonna Be Tough to Drive Around Arcata Friday

You know how Arcata got really crowded about a month ago when all the students came back? Well, now HSU is extending an invitation to students’ entire families. Be warned.

Homecoming and Family Weekend kicks off Friday with a slew of events including a concert on the quad at noon, a Centennial-themed parade around the Arcata Plaza at 4:15 p.m. and a homecoming dance in the Goodwin Forum at 9 p.m., to name a few. Full sked here.

In addition to all that pep, Arcata also plays host tonight to the Fifth Annual String Thing, an evening of strummed and picked delights at the ATL featuring The Absynth Quintet, Dirt Floor Band, Lyndsey Battle, Chris Parreira, Caitlin Jemma and more.

Add to this Arcatacentric night the allure that Ethiopian-born, Yale-educated, Bay Area jazz singer Meklit Hadero provides and you got some tough choices to make, Humboldt. Even more confounding variables in your Lowdown below.
