Lowdown: Three Monday Night Gatherings For You Cool Kids

Supposing for a sec that you didn’t expend all your life force over the weekend, you could conceivably fill your eyes and ears with curiosities this Monday:

  • Start your arty night at upstart venue The Sanctuary where you’ll be treated to Silver Ochre, a series of short films featuring live accompaniment by pianist Thollem McDonas. In addition to scoring mini-avant-garde movies, your Lowdown will note that McDonas has his own Wikipedia page, and then we will step away.
  • That performance wraps up about the time a band hat trick — comprised of Teach Me Equals, RedRumsey and The Tweeners — beings its rotation stage at the Jambalaya. Please nod your head along with Teach Me Equals song “Swallow the Smoke” above.
  • If you’re stuck in Eureka, The Siren’s Song Tavern is where the bands are. In addition to playing gongs and gamelans, Geist and the Sacred Ensemble claim to use “tools like power drills, hammers and chains to add texture” to their music. The Lowdown provides evidence of this below.
