Redwood Acres Fa… Oops, Best of Humboldt Fair Opens Today

For those of you skeptical of this new-fangled “Best of Humboldt Fair” — you know, what they’ve been calling your beloved childhood-happymaking “Redwood Acres Fair” for the last few years — have I got a deal for you.

Today is opening day at the fairgrounds. Guess what? Until 3 p.m. on Thursday, you can get in free. Free! With no fear of buyers remorse, you can scope out the scene to make sure all the rides, greasy foods, animals and general nostalgia have been preserved. After that, and through Sunday, it’ll cost ya $10 ($5 for kids and seniors). Also note that regional country singer of some fame McKenna Faith will take the stage for free shows at 4 and 7 p.m. (Remember when she had a truck party in the Eel River? See the video below.) —AG
