Lowdown: Matisyahu Gets Intimate, Dance with Beat Connection, Bad Movie

Arcata leads the way in notable events for your Humboldt Wednesday:

  • It’s been nearly a decade since unlikely stardom found Orthodox Jewish reggae rapper Matisyahu after “King Without a Crown” stormed modern rock radio. These days he’s lost his trademark scraggly beard but is still rocking the kippah. Tonight he grants a “special intimate evening” to Van Duzer Theatre faithful. Check out his song “Surrender off his latest album Akeda on the left above.
  • If CenterArts are not in your budget, fear not. HumBrews is opening its stage up to danceable indie rockers Beat Connection. Sample their sound above in the middle.
  • Oh no! It’s Sci-Fi Pint and Pizza Night at the Arcata Theatre Lounge! Ahhhh! Please review a trailer of tonight’s unintentionally hilarious film, The Amazing Transparent Man (1960), above on the right. Oh the humanity!

Arcata Theatre Lounge / 6 p.m. / $5
