The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two suspicious deaths after a pair of bodies were found inside a burning vehicle near Ettersburg Junction Tuesday. Deputies responded to a reported car fire on Shelter Cove Road just west of Ettersburg Junction shortly after 9 p.m., according to Public Information Specialist Samantha Karges.

“We are still on the scene investigating the incident,” Karges said.

Humboldt County Second District Supervisor Estelle Fennell reported the incident after driving by the burning vehicle, according to a post on Facebook:

Karges said deputies had been in the area “a short while” before the incident was called in and didn’t see the vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office is unable to release any details from the scene, though Karges said more information will be released soon.

In the meantime, the Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have seen something relevant in the area to contact them immediately.
