Public Transportation

Mr. F. How do you feel about the Cal Poly Transit center in 3rd and G in old town currently in the design and permitting phase? How would you feel about a pending regulation for the CoE mandating bus passes for new housing development in exchange for not providing parking? Are you encouraged by the new fleet of electric buses that have been purchased?

I don’t have anything against the coming Transit Center except the location is flat out terrible.  There were plenty of other locations that would have been a better fit instead of in the middle of Old Town.   The city & the council ignored those other possible sites only to save money.   This site will cost us all a lot more in the long run.

That parking lot is vital to businesses in the area and when it is lost we not only will have another 45 or more cars parking on the street but additional cars parking on the street from the 60 or so renters in the new building.      This issue shows a complete lack of understanding or care of what our businesses,  shoppers & tourists really need by our council & city administration.

Bus passes in lieu of parking for new housing developments are not practical for most people.

The new fleet of electric buses sounds interesting and as long as our general fund did not have to pay for them I don’t see a downside.
