Movies in the Park

Eureka Theater

The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission’s event Movies in the Park has been moved to the Eureka Theatre due to rain. The event scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, September 21 has been moved from Sequoia Park in Eureka to the Eureka Theater at 612 F street in downtown Eureka due to ongoing rain in the forecast. The original start time of 7 P.M. still stands, with doors opening at 6:15 P.M. The movie for this month’s event is Walt Disney’s The Gnome-Mobile. Based on a 1936 book by Upton Sinclair and filmed in Humboldt County, The Gnome-Mobile is one of the last films produced by Walt Disney himself. The film features an eccentric millionaire and his grandchildren, who become embroiled in the plights of some forest gnomes who are searching for the rest of their tribe. While helping them, the millionaire is suspected of being crazy because he’s seeing gnomes! He’s committed, and the niece and nephew and the gnomes have to find him and free him. There will be an information table set up on site with Film Commission volunteers collecting donations and answering questions about the organization’s mission and services. The Film Commission would like to thank the Eureka Theater for hosting the event on short notice. The film Commission would also like to thank its community sponsors Northcoast Audio, Deep Groove Society, Living the Dream Ice Cream, Pierson Building Center, A and I Roofing, Red Lion Hotel, Redwood Capital Bank, Humboldt Wholesale, Northcoast Co-op and Old Town Chocolates and Coffee.
