Tulley Air Attack requested 2 Heavy Air Tankers and additional helicopters. However North Ops (in Redding, covers roughly all of Calif n/of I-80) is unable to fill either request; offering two “Type 3 multi-engine” tankers tonight, but no helos will be available until tomorrow. Air Attack advised he’ll take both, the planes tonight and he will be needing copters tomorrow.

Tulley IC reports three fires, the largest being 75 acres with multiple structures in immediate danger; req CHP to stop all traffic onto Hwy 169; many power poles on 169 are on fire, req power company to shut down the electricity into the area

For those interested, there’s a fair amount of traffic on the SoHum Scanner especially air tankers coming and going, Also, there seems to be a decent radio “path” to Fortuna from the Hoopa area, which would make sense due to the dispatch center for both CalFire and the Forest service is at Fortuna. Possibly a “directional” antenna aimed there from one of the peaks around Hoopa.

[I’m in a bad location to hear local radio traffic from the Weitchpec area (up over the mountains and down into the canyon), so most of what I’ll be hearing will be Dispatch messages from Fortuna ECC and possibly air-to-air when they get over the fire]
