6561 now getting into a hover still trying to see if it’s safe for him to lower a swimmer down into the terrain to evaluate the situation and options

Scenic IC notifying Fortuna, Helo 6561 reconning to lower swimmers to check the terrain, vehicle and the victim and determine best way to get her out. Dispatch advises the victim is on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Coast Guard Helo 6561 is coming over the location now, trying to pinpoint it and see if they will have to airlift the victim or if the area will allow for a safe landing.

Coast Guard is doing their “Phase 1 and Phase 2” [?] for this response, probably 15 or 20 minutes.

IC requesting another call to Coast Guard, they’re “having a real difficult time getting down to the victim on the beach” and he’s also concerned about the tide coming up.

RP was just able to honk her horn again IC reports he has located the vehicle, it is on the beach, IC and other person are hiking down to it. Coast Guard advised Fortuna dispatcher they will call back with an ETA if able.

Re Scenic IC, Fire agencies continue to be unable to locate the veh “down the cliff;, GPS is inconclusive, occupant has been on phone with Fortuna Dispatcher, but not hearing several engines’ sirens, and they can’t hear her car horn or see her emergency flashers. IC now requesting if Coast Guard Helo is able to respond. Now [11:08 pm] CHP ofcr believes he can see her cars flashers, request they meet him.
