Southern Humboldt burbles with water sounds.  Water pouring off roofs, down recently dry creek beds, onto hastily covered woodpiles.  We’ve had just under 4 inches today!  A little over 7 inches since the rain first sent a few exploring drops to scout out the need for followup troops.  Apparently, the sky gods decided to conquer us and opened the floodgates.

A non-local called this “a freaking gullywasher.” And I don’t even think he’s exaggerating.

UPDATE:  Power lines and large fir have blocked Briceland Rd. at the Four Corners/Gulch area.  According to One Good Year blogger, Mikal Jacobal, “Crews are at the scene, but the road will be closed for a while.” Apparently, phone lines are damaged also.

UPDATE2: Warning:  According to the CHP, there is a traffic hazard at Salmon Creek road at Maple Hills road.  PGE just went out so it probably involves power lines.

UPDATE 3:  The Salmon Creek road is closed just west of the Banfield sign—on the sharp corner with the mirror.  The PG&E crews had not yet arrived as of this update.

Thanks to all the road/power/phone/harvest crews working in this storm.
