This morning, KHUM’s Mike Dronkers and your Lost Coast Outpost spoke with attorney Laura Cutler, who has been trying to arrange mediation talks between local officials and the Occupy Eureka movement. She said that neither county government nor the City of Eureka has been willing to sit at the table with the protesters.

Cutler also continues to raise the question of whether Eureka city ordinances (such as the anti-camping ordinance) apply on property owned by the county. She says that she does not have the answer to the question, and that the county has not been willing to provide any legal authorities that would clarify matters. I put the question to any attorneys in the house: Wouldn’t this fairly basic jurisdictional matter be a settled question of law by now?
