The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office just sent out a press release regarding the hunt for Aaron Bassler, the man suspected of murdering Fort Bragg City Councilmember Jere Melo and Matthew Coleman of the Mendocino Land Trust.

The sheriff and the US Marshals Service are calling a press conference tonight at 8 p.m. in Fort Bragg.

Bassler is believed to have been hiding out in the woods between Fort Bragg and Willits for weeks. The Sheriff’s Office recently released a security camera image of the suspect stalking around a remote cabin with a very large automatic rifle in his hand.

IN REGARDS TO THE ATTEMPTED APPREHENSION OF MURDER SUSPECT AARON BASSLER

On Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 8:00 p.m., the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a jointpress conference with the United States Marshals Service. The press conference will be held in the mainconference room at the Fort Bragg Police Department at 250 Cypress Street, Fort Bragg, CA. All press personnelwill be required to have valid press identification with them for admission into the conference.
