Gregg Foster, executive director of the Redwood Regional Economic Development Commission — RREDC, to the acronymistically-inclined — will be leaving to join Redwood Capital Bank as a vice president, the Lost Coast Outpost has learned.

Foster has had two tours of duty at the helm of this intergovernmental economic development loan fund — from 1999 through 2007, and then from 2009 to present. (In the interim, he did a brief tour of duty as director of business development at Lost Coast Communications, publisher of LoCO). The return trip brought some stability to the organization after the brief but memorable reign of the infamous Jeff Zander.

Foster has been active in the efforts to bring the second fiber cable to Humboldt County and in recruiting additional air service to the airport.

No word yet on plans to RREDC’s plans to replace Foster. Friendly word of unsolicited advice — Google your candidate before you hire him.
