Community pools have it rough in this day and age. They’re among the first things to get the ax when the budgets of schools or cities or special service districts are suffering — and they’re doing a lot of suffering these days. The North Coast Journal‘s Heidi Walters covered a huge wave of Humboldt County pool closures back in 2008. Last month we reported the impending closure of Scotia’s pool.

Well, it doesn’t always have to be so grim. LoCO superfriend Dave Brooksher files this story from Fort Bragg, where citizens just overwhelmingly approved a half-cent sales tax to keep its impressive CV Starr Aquatic Center open for business. Audio follows:
