Humboldt County Drug Task Force Press Release:
On 09-10-2012 at about 1000 hours the Humboldt County Drug Task responded to a residence in the 2400 block of Elizabeth Road, Fieldbrook. Drug Task Force Agents had intercepted $ 5,000 dollars in cash that was being sent to the residence in the mail. Agents went to the residence to inquire about the $5,000 dollars in cash.
When Agents knocked on the front door to the residence they contacted a subject named, Matthew R. Bengtson age 32. While Agents were speaking to Bengtson they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the residence. Officers the detained Bengtson and secured the residence for a search warrant.
At about 1230 hours a search warrant was obtained for the residence. Agents then searched the residence. Agents located 4 pounds of processed marijuana in one pound individual bags in the residence. Agent located evidence of manicuring of marijuana in the residence. Agents located 5 handguns and over $ 22,000 dollars in cash in the residence.
Agents seized the $22,000 dollars and the $5,000 dollars for possible asset forfeiture. Bengtson was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales and for being armed in the commission of a felony. Bengtson and was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility in Eureka and his bail was set at $ 50,000.
