If you put stock in the the various lists (yay, lists!) US News & World Report publishes throughout the year — and many do — you’ll be excited with the impressive showing of one local school in the exhaustive annual high school rankings.

Arcata’s Northcoast Preparatory and Performing Arts Academy has been recognized as being the ninth best school in the state of California according to the 2013 edition of the USN&WR rankings. Dayum! Not only that, the school ranked #72 in the national rankings. The only other school to make the list was Arcata High (State Rank: #230; National Rank: #1076).

So good on ya, NPA. Way to make the rest of us look bad.
