PREVIOUSLY: All Humboldt Approved Winners

Hmm. One could argue this week’s Humboldt Approved poll in search of the county’s best Chinese restaurant was a massive failure. Or was it?

First off, since there must be a winner, your Lost Coast Outpost going to go ahead and say congratulations to Liu’s Oriental Cuisine in Eureka (winner of our metro region award) and Hunan Village Restaurant (winner of our rural region award). Seriously, good on ya. However, LoCO would be remiss if it did not acknowledge the true voice of our readers. In short, you think HumCo’s Chinese options suck.

Remember how we always tell you to sort comments by “BEST” to track voting. If you follow those ordered below, you’ll note that “Mrs. Millbank“‘s comment stating “The Chinese food situation in Humboldt is the worst I’ve ever seen” got more upvotes than any other. Ouch.

So there you have it. Get your head in the game, local Chinese restaurants. The people demand it.

LoCO‘s first flesh and blood Humboldt Approved winner, Steve Bohner, has been granted a lifetime’s worth of bragging rights — we apologize, local musicians. On the positive, we got over 75 nominees! Thanks, HumCo! We really appreciate that you guys have been voting it up and (mostly) following the directions of our rigid voting process.

You ready for week six? You are?! Sweet.

This week we’re back to polling your taste buds. Where do you get your moo goo gai pan? Whose crab cheese puffs pinch you just right? Where do you get the most generous fortune cookie prophecies? That’s right, LoCO wants to know your favorite local Chinese Restaurant. You decide what factors are most important. cuisine authenticness, wait staff attentiveness, level of artistry on the Chinese calendar place mats. Your call.

Now it’s Humboldt Approved’s sixth week, but if we don’t restate the rules order will devolve quickly (it may anyway.) So again, here’s how voting works (please read carefully):

To vote, look through the comments of this Humboldt Approved poll. If someone has already nominated the answer you would give for that week’s category, click the upvote arrow. If you don’t see your desired Humboldt Approved answer nominate it in a comment for others to upvote. (Please be careful to not duplicate answers; redundant answers will be deleted and potential associated upvotes will be lost.) Feel free to make your case by replying to/cheering on the answer you love most, but again the number by the arrows is what counts.

Of course, you can vote for as many nominees as you deem worthy, but of course the more you do that the more watered down your initial vote becomes. That’s math.

We reserve the right to delete superfluous comments that make the voting/comment section hard to sift through. Please try not to get offended when your comment battle reply is deleted. We’re trying to do something here.

This week we return to looking for two winners — one winner from the metropolises of Eureka and Arcata, and one from Humboldt’s smaller communities. Winners will be declared next Friday at noon. The winner will eventually get something. We’re working on our snazzy LoCO certificates.

Now, get to voting. Whose eggrolls are the absolute eggiest, Humboldt!?  What’s your favorite Chinese Restaurant?

(Tip: Sort comments by “BEST” to get a better grasp of how voting is going.)
