Another inmate died earlier this year.
On Friday March 08, 2013 at about 7:00 p.m. a Humboldt County Correctional Officer, while on a routine security check within a housing unit, found an inmate unconscious with a bed sheet tied around his neck. Correctional Officers and facility medical staff immediately began life saving efforts which resulted in successfully regaining a pulse. The Eureka Fire Department and City Ambulance responded and assisted in transporting the inmate to St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was admitted and later placed on life support when his condition worsened. Notification of next of kin was made and as of this time he continues to remain on life support systems. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detectives are investigating the incident. More information will be released as it becomes available.
