Last year the county kickstarted $750,000 of Headwaters Fund money into a redwood manufacturers trade group. A couple of local manufacturers — Humboldt Redwood Company, the California Redwood Company — matched that amount. The idea was to fund a public relations assault to boost the profile of natural redwood materials, especially in relation to crap composite decking. (See story from the Times-Standard here.)

And now it looks as if things are starting to congeal! The group has published an informative, pitch-laden website — RealStrongRedwood.com — and filmed a couple of agreeably snarky commercials, which are now YouTubeable.

Check it out, cheap decking material, because we’re about to drop some truth. Redwood is …

… strong! …

… and beautiful!
