Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office press release:

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s recently purchased a new portable X-Ray machine and a lap top computer for their Bomb Squad Unit at a cost of $26,456 dollars. All of the money used to purchase the X-Ray machine and lap top computer originated through a Federal grant program through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which was awarded to Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office through California Operation Emergency Services (CAL OES).

 The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has a Sergeant and three Deputies, who are assigned to their Bomb Squad Unit as part of their collateral duties. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responds to suspicious possible explosive items or explosive materials that are located in Humboldt County. The Humboldt County Sheriff’ Office Bomb Squad Unit also provides mutual aid to surrounding Counties when the need arises for explosive materials.
