Arcata Press Release:

At 5:30 am this morning a small fire was reported in the area of 9th and H Streets in Arcata. Police and Fire Departments responded immediately and the fire was quickly extinguished. Several minutes later, a second small fire was reported less than three blocks away at the Intermodal Transit Facility (ITF) near the Arcata Ball Park.  Again, Police and Fire Departments responded and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Thanks to a surveillance system at ITF, images of the suspected arsonist were captured and Arcata Police officers began a search for the suspect.

At 11:15 am, Arcata Police officers located the suspect, Ray Mason Keene, age 70, of West Virginia. After an interview with Keene, he was arrested on two counts of P.C. 451(d)-Arson.

This was a joint investigation by the Arcata Police Department and the Arcata Fire Department.
