Sharon Latour, a 58-year old McKinleyville resident, assistant professor at College of the Redwoods and pastor at Arcata Presbyterian Church, will challenge incumbent Ryan Sundberg for the 5th District seat on the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors.

“I’m pretty thrilled about the opportunity,” Latour told the LoCO this morning. According to her Facebook profile, Latour earned a PhD in athletic administration from the University of Southern California in 1983 and graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary in 2007.

She said she’ll be meeting with her organizing committee today at noon. And while she wasn’t ready to speak in depth about her candidacy, she said, “It’s a wonderful time in our county’s history to be involved and represent people’s care about this wonderful place that we live. It’s a great privilege.”
