Shurina Ann Tate was born on April 25, 1977 in Eureka, California to the union of Sharon and Edward Tate. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, niece, godmother and loving friend. She passed away on November 7, 2014.

Shurina attended Eureka High School and upon graduation she spent part of her professional life as a nurse. Shurina was blessed to find her passion, as a child care provide where she was able to nourish the spirits of children with her unconditional love.

Throughout Shurina’s life she was known for being such a nurturing and loving person. She created joy and unity wherever her spirit was present. Shurina was a natural born caretaker, a peacemaker, a giver, and had a heart of gold which was seen by those who she graced with her presence. But most of all Shurina loved her family and friends beyond measure.

Shurina enjoyed fishing and took pleasure in creating crafts. She was well known in the community for her Indian Taco booth on 4th of July. As a great cook she mastered each dish effortlessly. She brought taste to a heightened level which became evident when her food graced your palette.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her parents, Sharon and Edward Tate, sister, Carena Tate, nephew, Jeremiah Tate-Golden, Grandmother Annie Pearl Tate, Aunt Nancy Steele, and Uncle Bert Steele, Aunt Sadie Tate, Uncle James Richardson, Uncle Henry Aubrey, and numerous other relatives and many lifelong friends that Shurina loved and adored.

The Funeral service will be held at the Women’s Club on J St. Eureka, Ca on Friday 11/14 at 10am. Following a Celebration of Life dinner at 5pm located at the Wharfinger Building. Graveside service will be held at Oceanview Cemetery on Saturday 11/15 at 10am
