From the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office:
On 04-10-2015 at about 6:00 p.m. a Humboldt County Correctional Officer was making security checks in the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. The Correctional Officer discovered a 43 year old, male inmate, who was sitting on the ground with a bed sheet wrapped around his neck and the other end of the bed sheet was tied to the top of the bunk bed inside of his cell.
The Correctional Office immediately radioed for assistance from other Correctional Officers and medical staff. Correctional Officers immediately cut the bed sheet off the inmate. First aid was immediately given to the inmate, who was breathing on his own. The inmate was transported to a local hospital, via an ambulance.
The inmate was treated at the local hospital and was medically cleared from the hospital at approximately 9:10 p.m. and was returned to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility .The inmate is currently house in a safety cell and will be monitored every 15 minutes by mental health staff. The inmate is in custody for failing to register as a sex offender.
