Feeling disconnected from county government? Now you can carry it around in your pocket! The County of Humboldt “app” is now available for download on both Apple and Android devices (it’s essentially a mobile version of the county’s recently revamped website, with a couple of new features). Press release detailing the launch below:

Looking to access county services? Now, there’s an app for that.

Today the County of Humboldt introduced its first mobile app, called “My Humboldt.” The app allows citizens to easily access many of the county’s most popular services and information via their phone or tablet. You can download the app through the Google Play Store and App Store for Apple products.

Using the “My Humboldt” app, you can:

  • Report a road concern and submit photos geo-tagged to your location
  • Submit a crime report (non-emergency)
  • Sign up for and receive emergency alerts and county news
  • Check road conditions
  • Find county parks and other facilities on a map, and more!

The county launched its new website, humboldtgov.org in July 2014. After the launch, the county solicited input from citizens via the county’s Open Humboldt discussion forum regarding features to include in the mobile app. Some of the most requested features were gaining easy access to: water quality testing data; Human Rights Commission; and Board of Supervisors agendas. These features have all been included into “My Humboldt.”

Development of the app was included in the county’s original contract for its new website. No new funds were spent on creating “My Humboldt.”

If you would like to see changes made to the app, please submit your comments in the Open Humboldt forum.
