Members of AFSCME Local 1684, including employees of the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services, rallied outside the county’s mental health hospital Sempervirens this evening to highlight both National Workers Memorial Day as well as local working conditions for union employees.

National Workers Memorial Day highlights workers wounded and/or killed while working on the job. Outside the mental health hospital, the gathered crowd chanted a call-and-response: “What do we want? Safety! When do we want it? Now!”
