At approximately 8:30 last night, a bicyclist was struck near 16th and J Street. The vehicle that hit him left the scene of the incident. However, according to a spokesperson for the Eureka Police Department (EPD), the bicyclist was “uncooperative with police” and declined to give information. The EPD spokesperson did not have information on the vehicle that fled the scene.

He said that without the victim’s cooperation charges are infrequently filed and so the department’s limited time and resources are better used helping citizens who want their assistance.
