UPDATE, 8:05 p.m.: The Times-Standard identifies this morning’s drowning victim as Alan Arthur Blomquist of Eureka.
###
A local 74-year-old man was found deceased at Clam Beach this morning in what the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is considering a drowning.
Lieutenant Wayne Hanson told the Outpost that the man was found about half a mile south of Clam Beach’s south parking lot. The thought is that the victim had been clamming early in the morning by himself as there were no witnesses to death. He was later discovered by other people walking the beach.
“Looks like a tragic accident,” Hanson said.
Hanson noted that the man lives locally but that his identity would not be released until next of kin can be notified by the Coroner’s Office.
