Emergency personnel are responding to the scene of a body discovered in a greenbelt area behind a Scotia neighborhood this afternoon.

Town of Scotia President Frank Bacik told the Outpost this afternoon that it it his understanding that employees of the town’s water district discovered the body after they had been sent out to investigate an odd smell in the air.

At roughly 1:15 p.m., a law enforcement officer responding to the call told dispatchers that he had been flagged down by water district employees, as would be headed down North Court to the scene of the discovery.

Two weeks ago a resident of North Court — a small area of the town, isolated from the rest — fended off a man who attempted to invade his home by stabbing his attacker with a knife. His attacker, who has not been publicly identified, reportedly fled out the back of the victim’s home.
